[edit] Characters Played

[edit] Yeoman William Payne (2005)

Yeoman of her Majesty's guard of the body.

Payne is one of the few known yeomen of the period. The name is recorded upon a tombstone in Kent with no other information remaining.

Ansel's interpretation for the 2005 season made him a displaced Welshman dedicated to the Queen. He was distinguished by the large leek in his hat.

[edit] Captain Sir Martin Frobisher (2006-2007)

High Admiral of Cathay and all lands to be discovered by him, Admiral of all waters to the North and West, Clerk of the Royal Navy.

A hero in the age of Elizabethan seamanship, Frobisher was one of the first Englishmen in Guinea (1553-54) and the first to follow Cabot searching for the Northwest Passage (Straights of Anean). He was a steadfast and tenacious warrior on the sea distinguishing himself in the Armada and continuing his heady career until his death from an infected battle wound in 1594.

Ansel's Frobisher is a bit less famous, steadfast and heroic than the original. Known for his "endearingly loose understanding of the boundaries of legality" and far fetched tales of distant lands the Frobisher which appears in this incarnation is characterized by enthusiasm and desire for fame.

[edit] The life of a counterfeit Elizabethan sea captain

[edit] 2006

- Frobisher was awarded the good ship Pelican for not fighting in front of the Queen during the Queen Show's final season.

- Frobisher began long term flirtation with his "gattita d'amore", Dona Magdalena of Spain.

[edit] 2007

- Frobisher married his "gawby bumblekite", Mistress Elizabeth Brooke against the strong protests of her family. The ceremony was presided over by the BBF and attended heavily by the Guilde of St. Lawrence. The Maid of Honour and Best Man were Anne Gresham and Peregrin Barty, Baron Willoughby respectively. The Infanta of Spain gave away the bride.

[edit] Frobisher quotes

"Why yes, I am Captain Sir Martin Frobisher. Thank you for asking."

"History will remember me, I owe it money."
