Sue McIntire née Melinger (previously married to Harvey Melinger and living in Highland Park, IL) was partners with Arlin Robbins in directing the Arlin & Sumara Dancers. Sue and Arlin met at belly dancing classes in northern Illinois and the two became fast friends. Arlin was a member of the Society for Creative Anachronism, the group which was hired by the local renaissance faire to provide entertainment with their "foot jousting." Arlin knew the faire was looking for dancers and arranged with director John Mills for the group to perform at King Richard's Faire the summers of 1976 and [[1977]. From the SCA members Sue met and married Jim McIntire. She had two children from her first marriage, Andrea and Alissa.
